Two Particular Acres is not a
large batch one size fits all operation. Our compost is always high quality and
in many cases made to order. We utilize the CMC method to insure high microbial
counts and to insure destruction of pathogens and weed seeds. Compost is
available year round in both a vegetative based version and a manure based
version. Depending on your needs the compost can come screened or unscreened.
Unscreened compost is an excellent alternative to mulch and provides much needed
organic matter to our regions clay based soils. This material is typically used on our farm to build organic matter in our fields but it works even better as mulch around our own home. We make our mulch with a blend of “chipper chips” and manure blended to precise proportions and then actively composted and aerated in windrows for up to one year. We then regrind the material for a consistently small and fine textured particle. The composting and grinding process and proprietary recipe produces a unique mulch that is not available from any other supplier. The mulch from our farm is superior to other products because:
We also make traditional mulch
from ground yard waste without addition of manure for those who prefer standard
mulch. Once again we utilize a composting process that is expensive and time
consuming but the benefit is no construction waste or dyes to harm you or your
loved ones.
We actually
manufacture topsoil here at Two Particular Acres. We screen and blend soils
composts and sand to create the perfect soil for this region. Because we have
the capacity to manufacture top soil we can custom blend and create soil to your
specifications. Increasing or decreasing the amount of compost (organic matter)
and/or sand can create just the properties that you desire in your soil. When
we began farming the organic matter content of our soils was less than 2% which
creates stressful growing conditions. The Soil we manufacture can have 10% or
greater organic matter which, in many cases, will alleviate your mineral
fertilizer needs.
